Meet Your Dentist

Dr. Phil Herlihey was introduced to healthcare at a very young age. His father was a veterinarian in Elmhurst, IL and worked with him throughout his early life. He really enjoyed the surgical and diagnostic parts of the job. He likes to work with people, so became a dentist. 

When Dr. Herlihey is in his Loves Park office, he is dedicated to comfortable dental care for his patients. He enjoys taking a patient who is fearful to one that is comfortable and pain free.  

Prior to dental school, Dr. Herlihey attended Knox College in Galesburg, IL. He was a double major in Chemistry and Economics. After graduation, he continued his education by attending Loyola Dental School from 1988-1992. During his time at dental school he received honors in Periodontics. Growing his skillset in his craft as a dentist, in 2010 he attended the Six Month Smiles Short Term Orthodontics Program. This is on-going continuing education for Dr. Herlihey and the staff.

Dr. Herlihey is a proud member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), Illinois State Dental Society, Chicago Dental Society, and Winnebago Dental Society. 

Outside of work Dr. Herlihey likes to stay active. He belongs to several ski and bike clubs, so you can find him skiing, cycling and running. He loves all three and participates in triathlons. Dr. Herlihey has even competed in Ironman. Ironman competitions are twice the distance of Olympic triathlons. He enjoys doing all of this with his family and they regularly attend these triathlon and Ironman competitions.
