Dental Crowns Can Restore Your Tooth For a Solution That Looks and Feels Natural

A crown can repair and protect your tooth.
A dental crown is placed over the affected tooth, repairing areas of decay, protecting them from further damage, and often preventing the need for extraction.

Dental crowns are a trusted, durable solution.
Most dental crowns are made of strong materials that are designed to withstand normal biting forces. Some may last ten years or more with proper care.

Dental crowns look just like your other teeth.
Dental crowns are made from high-quality materials that can be color-matched to the shade of the surrounding teeth and mimic the natural light-reflecting properties of your smile.

Let's dive in to see how dental crowns work...

Tooth Decay & Dental Damage Are Common Among Patients of All Ages

*According to the American Dental Association.

If you've suffered a chip or serious trauma, a crown can save your tooth...

Can't Fillings, Inlays, or Onlays Perform the Same Function for a Lower Cost?

Fillings, inlays, or onlays can be used to replace the removed or damaged portion of a tooth. While these solutions may be a suitable option for minor cavities or trauma, a dental crown is typically recommended for moderate to severe issues as it can better protect the remaining structure of the tooth. A crown can range from $500 to $2,500 per tooth depending on the material used, however, insurance usually covers part of this cost.

Once damage has been removed and your tooth is reduced for a comfortable fit, your crown will be placed to complete your smile.

The Dental Crown Placement Process Can Typically Be Completed in Two Appointments:

Your dentist will determine whether a dental crown is the best solution for you. If so, you will work together to decide which material is best for your needs.

Damaged or decayed portions of the tooth will be removed.

The tooth will then be reshaped and resized to create enough space for the crown.

Impressions will be made and used to create your new crown. If the doctor has an in-office milling machine, you may receive your personalized dental crown in a single appointment. Otherwise, you will need to wait about one to two weeks.

You will return for your second appointment during which the doctor will place your crown over the remaining portion of your tooth and ensure it fits comfortably.

The crown will then be secured in place using a dental cement.

Not sure if you'll be satisfied with the look and feel of a dental crown?

A Customized, Reliable Solution

Dental crowns are available in a variety of materials, which can be shade-matched to the surrounding teeth to maintain a cohesive smile. Your doctor can work with you to determine which aspects of your dental crown treatment are a priority for you and can make the best recommendation based on your needs. Most dentists can personalize your treatment to restore both the function and aesthetics of your smile.

Neglecting to treat a weakened tooth can lead to elaborate and expensive treatment as well as have a significant negative effect on your oral health. Schedule an appointment to discuss crown options with your doctor to protect your smile.
